Last spring I fell hard for high waisted straight leg denim. High waisted denim is so functional for my lifestyle; I have a four and an almost one year old. Not having to worry about how low my jeans are riding is a win-win-win. I get the title "mom jeans" and totally embrace it. However, with any denim trend, a question of how to style it arises. These are my favorite ways to style this trend.
Shoes, What Shoes?
Sometimes when I style an outfit, I just want my shoes to almost disappear. This is true when I have an especially loud or busy shirt. A nude shoe is the perfect way to make this happen. I love the clear details on these Chinese Laundry heels.
I also like how a heel elongates my legs with straight leg denim. I find the cut of these jeans can very quickly make me look much shorter if I don't pair them with flattering footwear. When in doubt, a nude pump is the answer.

Show Some Skin
Another way to elongate legs in straight leg or relaxed denim is to show some more of your ankle and feet. These low cut shoes and booties are very flattering with this style of denim. They are also very on trend this fall.
The pointy toe, subtle hue, and block heel on these booties keep the line of my legs going instead of visually chopping them off.

As the weather gets colder, covering my ankles is an absolute must. Classic black booties are the perfect solution for keeping you warm while styling your straight leg denim. Pointed toes are my favorite.
These booties are so fun with the long zipper and animal print. They are also so surprisingly comfortable, so I'm reaching for them non-stop.

Try Something Trendy
Since straight leg and relaxed denim is trendy, why not throw on a trendy shoe, too? Adding a fun pop to an otherwise simple outfit really elevates a look.
