Musings - Fashion Quotes

Two quotes passed a Pinterest scroll today and urged an English-degree individual with access to unlimited space on a website to pursue her circular and confusing thoughts on said quotes.

This is Musings with Sarah. Today's topic: fashion quotes.

The first quote:

"Clothes aren't going to change the world, the women who wear them will." - Anne Klein

The second quote:

"Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." - Rachel Zoe

I think these two quotes work so well together because both circle down to the point that it's the woman inside the clothes that does amazing things. Fashion (or being fashionable) can sometimes feel like the end-all, be-all. It's not. I am not sure how many times I have thought, or wrote, or said: this [insert garment] makes me look amazing. Yeah, I probably do look better in my black suede boots and shift dress than I do in a paper bag, but it's not about that, it's about me. My style portrays who I am, how I feel in a particular moment. It captures that, for everyone to see. If I want to rock a presentation, I'm probably going to wear something striking yet classic. If I feel extremely lovey-dovey and want to spend a day with my boyfriend I will probably throw on a fluttery, feminine dress.

The clothing helps me to become who I am, or who I want to become, that day. That's why clothes won't change the world. It's about the woman in them. That's why style speaks to who someone is. It's about the woman in them.
