Shopping local has many benefits. For one, shopping local means more of your money will stay in the community. The money you spend goes out into different projects, including school funds, city parks, and government resources like libraries. Shopping local is also a way for you to embrace what makes your community unique. It supports cute, interesting shops and unique items you really can’t find anywhere else. Imagine the chaos that would ensue if everyone had the same top from Target. It’d be cute, I’m sure, but everyone would have it. Shopping local also creates jobs in your community. Local businesses are better at creating higher-paying jobs for your neighbors. When you shop locally, you help create jobs for teachers, firemen, police officers, and many other essential professions.
- Sophie is Basically the Only Place to Get Shoes
You know I’m right. And it’s not just shoes; it’s stylish, versatile, and comfortable shoes. I go into Sophie to look for shoes to match a dress for a formal event. I also go in to Sophie to look for cute sandals I can walk around in all day.
- It’s an Easy Source to Find Unique Finds
This goes back to one of my points found in my first point. As a shopper, I need options. Interesting clothing finds come from unique places that offer unique clothes. There are so many amazing clothing vendors that I hardly ever see because they exclusively sell to local boutiques. Sophie has introduced me to Z Supply and Dear John Jeans. And thank goodness for that!
- Sophie is in a Great Area!
Downtown Main Street in Joplin is a fun place to be. You can park your car and explore. Grab a bite at M&M Bistro, Club 609, Instant Karma, or Hackett’s; Run into the neighboring stores that offer athletic clothes, home decor options, or antiques. Shopping downtown can mean an entire afternoon spent doing fun things.
